What is a multimedia-album?

A multimedia album is a new way to distribute music digitally.
It mainly consists of an application (Mac OsX and Windows) that behaves as an advanced multimedia player, letting you listen to the music, read the lyrics, watch the artwork, photos, videos and all the extra stuff...

Which audio formats supports?

It can open mp3 and m4a (AAC) files.

Can I listen to the songs in my ipod or in another player or device?

Of course! The audio files (mp3 or m4a) are inside a folder of the application. You can take them and use wherever you want.

Why don't you just distribute the mp3 files?

Because often an album is not only made of the music inside of it.
Artwork, lyrics, photos, and everything that can contribute to create the atmosphere of the album, and to explain the story behind it, is important to me, and I believe that modern music distribution systems always lacks something (and bands' websites cannot always compensate this).

Will they always be free?

The various multimedia-albums as stand-alone applications will always be free.
The music (audio files) inside it will not always be free... it depends on the album. I released my older albums as free multimedia albums to let anyone enjoy them, but for my newer works I will distribute a free "empty" multimedia album without the mp3s.
So you can buy the songs separately, put them in the right folder and...voilà! You are ready to listen to the album in its full glory, with artworks, lyrics and all the extra stuff.
You can even buy a single song, or some of them... it's your choice if you like the whole album or not!

Do I need an installation procedure?

Not really. Just unpack the zip file where you want and launch the main exe or app file. That's it!

Can I put some different audio files inside a multimedia album?

No. Every multimedia album is different and it will recognize only the right songs (the ones of that particular album).
It can even works without audio files, showing you only the extra files. So if you put some wrong files in the audio folder it simply won't show them in the player (the applications makes a check on the meta tags, like Artist and Song name)

Is it compatible with which systems?

The multimedia album is a stand-alone application, which is compatible with Mac OsX and Windows. It's not resources hungry, but clearly it can slow down on some older computers, as it involves audio playing, images slideshows, animations and... well, have a try!

Can I distribute my music with a multimedia album too?

The multimedia album at the moment is not an open-source or a freeware application, but please contact me if you are interested.
We can make an agreement for its use. And if many of you will be interesed in it I can even start thinking to its license and mass distribution... :)
